What kind of food is this?
The Achilles tendon of cattle. It is high in protein, most of it collagen—a slightly different protein makeup from lean meat.
It is springy and gives a satisfying chew.
Dried Achilles tendon is sold as a chew. With the water removed, it is more nutrient-dense than the raw version at the same weight.
How to serve
If swallowed without being chewed through, it can get stuck in the throat or intestines. Especially once the piece has become small, watch your dog while they eat so they do not swallow it whole. Also, because it is a hard cut, it can chip or break the back teeth while chewing. If your dog seems bothered by their teeth or seems to have trouble eating, have them checked at a veterinary clinic.
