This is horse Achilles tendon. It is high in protein, most of it collagen.
Its protein makeup differs from muscle meat — it is a tendon part with strong elasticity and plenty of chew.
Dried tendon has its moisture removed, so the same weight is more concentrated than the raw version.
How to serve
If swallowed without being chewed through, it can get stuck in the throat or intestines. Especially once it has worn down small, watch your dog while they eat so they do not swallow it whole. Also, hard parts can chip or break the back teeth during chewing. If your dog seems bothered by their teeth or has trouble eating, have them seen at a veterinary clinic.
