What kind of food is this?
The deer's liver. The liver is known as an organ rich in copper and vitamin A.
How to serve
Wild venison varies from animal to animal in how it was raised and processed, and it may carry parasites or bacteria. Cook meat bought at supermarkets or butchers — or meat of unknown processing — through to the center before serving. Products processed and frozen as raw food for dogs should be used according to that product's instructions. Because even a small amount of liver swings the nutrient numbers sharply, use it as one part of a meal, not as the main meat. In breeds known to accumulate copper in the liver (such as the Bedlington Terrier and West Highland White Terrier), take care that copper-rich foods do not continue day after day.
